GUEST SPEAKER: Patty Miller - NOAA
Patty Miller is the Education/Outreach Coordinator for the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary. The Humpback Whale Sanctuary is responsible for protecting the whales, through research, conservation and education. Patty educates
all ages about the whales and the sanctuary. Patty was previously a teacher with the Hawaii DOE, and also produced and taught the KidScience Program that was broadcast live on television, which took hands-on science lessons into the classrooms.
Patty's presentation will include information on the sanctuary, everything you ever wanted to know about the humpback whales and how the sanctuary research team disentangles the whales that come down from Alaska entangled in nets and fishing gear.
