Join us for the September 2011 General Membership meeting.  Both members and the public are welcome...$25 per person for non members.

The KCOC General Membership meeting is a great way to see what the chamber is doing and to network with your fellow business professionals.

Guest Speaker:  Pono Shim
President and CEO Enterprise Honolulu, Oahu Economic Development Board
He currently serves on 15 various Non-Profit Boards, For-Profit, Task Force, or Advisory
Boards. Including the Friends of Iolani Palace, Department of Hawaiian Homelands
Kaupuni Advisory Board, University of Hawaii West Oahu Advisory Board, Ohia
Productions, Economic Development Alliance of Hawaii, Kamehameha Schools Alumni
Association, Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative Steering Committee, Hawaii Economic
Development Task Force, Chamber of Commerce Public Health Fund Advisory Board,
Malama Hawaii Advisory Board, Manehu Leo, Governing Board Member of Punawai ‘O
Pu’uhonua, and others. Pono is a leader who is working to bridge the members of our
community. Pono was selected as one of Hawaii Business Magazine’s 2010-20 for 20,
Identified as one of Hawaii’s top 20 Break Out Leaders for the Next 20 Years.
Pono attributes his success in his efforts to the working knowledge and practical
application of Aloha. When he speaks of Aloha, he clarifies that he’s not referring to
the Aloha Spirit, but rather the practical applications of the values working in concert.
Pono and his family were blessed with the good fortune of spending time with Kupuna
Auntie Pilahi Paki, known as the proponent of aloha. This living and working knowledge
provides direction to Hawaiian thought and actions.
He’s a gifted story teller who uses illustrations rather than concepts to connect with
audiences. He doesn’t believe in long credentials and an inventory of assets as the
metrics of success, but rather the ability of leadership in individual lives to build a
healthy community.

At each meeting we encourage our NEW members to introduce themselves and their services/products.  Display tables are set up and members (only) are encouraged to display their products/services with brochures and other marketing items.  A give away item always helps to promote your business.
